In pandemic times, especially with the social gatherings restrictions extended to January 8, 2021, it is more important than ever to stay connected with your colleagues, clients, friends, and families. Celebrate those special moments together, apart.

There are Zoom events that you want to exit after the first five minutes. And it’s easy to do on a virtual platform. Don’t pretend, I know you’ve done it before. You don’t have to excuse yourself or find the right time to leave, it’s just a click away for joining and leaving, and no one will notice especially if it is a big group.

There are also Zoom events that are engaging and you want to stay. What makes the difference?
It is the interactive and engaging parts that make or break.

Too many times when I took part in virtual award events or fundraising galas that I find bored after a while. It is because the communication is only one way, with no interaction. You could have just watched the recording afterwards at your leisure.
Things don’t just happen; it takes creative ideas and planning to do just that.
With a good event host, you can interact and engage the group in meaningful discussions, watch and interact with a performer, or accomplish something together. Ask guests to dress up, decorate the background to the holiday theme, with prizes for grabs and bragging rights.
Live performances include musicians, magicians, or comedians – good ones provide entertainment and get everyone connected. The interactive component can be cooking or baking demonstration, wine pairing talk or Christmas ornament decorating workshops. It depends on the theme and interest of the group – get the creative juices flowing.
Supporting local business is vital - order food, wine, and gifts from your favourite restaurants and stores. Shop, eat, and give local – have your items delivered to the door steps of your guests and shared over the event.
How do you make the most out of the situation and stay safe? It is not too late to start planning now and you can leave it to the professionals!
